Message Woke up to another beautiful crisp cool day - perfect day for a car show! The field was full of Zs, as many of you have already seen in Tony@GZPerformance's post yesterday. I don't have much to add but these few:

Tim's beautiful Z:

Brett's:

JLowe-spotting, for all you horny bastards:

The rest of what was yesterday dubbed the fluxed Z:

I love this old Z:

Go Bernie!

I really did not care for the styling of this Z33 - long noses belong on Salukis, not Zs:

New VQ?

In all that wandering, I managed to find Ballistic, Mega and the rest of the Bastard Crew and connected with them for the day, abandoning Bernie to do his thing at the car show. I got to ride shotgun with the venerable Karl in his nicely set up red 'vert. That man knows how to drive! I had no idea what a ride I was in for. =)

Right after this shot, Karl strapped on the driving gloves and his hands never left the 10 & 2 positions:

Gathering up to roll out, Halo Z's 240 not disrupting the visual landscape here as much as a Civic who rolled with us and did his darnedest to keep up:

Bernie, I know you wanted this shot:

Me thinking that a 'vert's not half bad...

Stopping in the Joyce Kilmer forest in search of big trees:

Beautiful!

Found one...

And another...

That one was clearly a boy tree:

Getting bigger!

We're not sure which was the biggest, but this one was definitely up there:

And here's the girl tree - poor worn-out thing, giving birth to such a big forest!

Much thanks to the Bastard crew for having patience with Tearsa and I - you know, eventually you pass that point where you've just gone too far to turn back, and everyone you pass keeps saying, "The trees are just a little farther down the path!" Well, we found them, and they were definitely impressive!

The Cherohala Skyway came next, so named because it goes along the ridge of the mountaintops:

Redhead & me:

Very interesting skid marks all over this stretch of road:

Headed back to the Village:

Once there, there was another dinner in the Rec Hall, which I dropped in on for a bit, but then bailed to join the Bastards for steak & potatoes. Not only is Karl an excellent driver, but he doubles as a cook! Very handy to have in your crew. 8)

After food and BSing, we headed down to the Nissan cabins where the Z1 crew was once again riling up the crowd with fire, booze and loud tunes. Thanks to MixMaster Russell for keeping things flowing, and to Nissan Scott for dragging my ass up to dance - I had a great time, but wouldn't have gotten up there without the encouragement. ;-) And thanks to my posse for keeping an eye on me - Bernie and Ric, you guys rock, and for that matter, Ballistic and Garreth, too.

Things wound down and we headed back, without the two layers of long-sleeved shirts I'd brought with me - did anyone grab two long-sleeved black jacket-shirts off the railing??? I miss them. =(

Other than the missing layers on a chilly night, it was an excellent way to spend a day in the mountains. 8)

I was previously a aviation mechanic and avionic technician and this car is harder to work on than Aircraft.
